Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson Praise Carrie Underwood's Comeback at ACM Awards (Exclusive)
Carrie Underwood certainly has two A-list fans! The 35-year-old performer made a triumphant return to the stage at Sunday nightâs Academy of Country Music Awards, belting out âCry Pretty.â
The performance marked Underwoodâs first since her fall outside of her home last November and her resulting facial injury. Naturally, the crowd loved the American Idol winnerâs comeback performance, cheering her on.
ETâs Nancy OâDell caught up with the showâs host, Reba McEntire, backstage afterwards where she gushed about Underwood.
âI'm very proud of Carrie. She's gone through a lot, and I am proud that she's back on the stage again,â McEntire, 63, told ET. âShe's a tremendous vocalist, incredible â" got legs to die for, but she's an incredible vocalist.â
Also a big Underwood fan â" fellow Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson! The 35-year-old âLove So Softâ singer spoke with ET about the recent poll pitting her against Underwood.
âIt doesn't matter what spectrum â" if you're no. 1 you're no. 1, or no. 6 you're no. 6 â" as long as you're doing what you love,â she said. âI know it sounds cheesy, it really does, but so many people go down bad paths, end up in rehab all these things happen to them because you're just not focusing on what makes you happy â" thatâs what I wanted to focus on â" weâre moms, we're CEOs, we're killing it â" so that's why I was saying donât do that to us.â
Clarkson added of Underwood, âItâs great that sheâs better.â
